SIMPLIFY YOUR WORLD…..
At TRC Staffing Services, we do a lot of organizing. From the first time we speak with a candidate, our recruiter will organize their work history into a summary, which helps our office internally
get to know where the candidate has been and where they desire to go next. When a client shares with us their new opening, we immediately begin composing a job posting that will describe the opportunity and help us with finding just the right candidate to match to the job.
Personally, I love organizing. Office supply stores really bring this compulsion out of me. Once I enter, it feels as if have been transported into a magical place, where all dreams can become reality. There are binders, desk organizers, sticky notes, and writing utensils of all sizes and shapes. The scene in Disney’s
“The Little Mermaid” where Ariel has her collection of human things comes to
mind.
(Cue “Part of Your World”
music….)
I’ve got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty.
I’ve got whozits and whatzits galore.
You want thingamabobs?
I’ve got twenty!
But who cares?
No big deal.
I want more!
I wanna be where the office supplies are
I wanna see, wanna see the products
Walking around on those- what do you call ‘em?
Oh- AISLES!
Ariel’s treasures equal my favorite pens, the perfect organizer, and the best ruler. It is bad. Don’t send me to pick up a couple of things for the office. I
will be there for at least 30 minutes to purchase just one item.
All the options, all the colors, all the ways to arrange things! It is really heaven to me. Anything is possible with the right office supplies!
Even though I love organizing, I can make the simplest of tasks
into overly complicated ones.
Like one Saturday morning recently, I decided to organize Joey
(Age 9) and Zach’s (Age 2 & 1/2) very small and very messy playroom. Before starting, I had to develop my approach. First I took about 15
plastic Wal-Mart bags and a couple of big empty cardboard boxes from the garage and began categorizing. Action figures, balls, Batman toys, Beyblades, etc. Then, I used masking tape and labeled each bag and box. Next, I began the hunt for the perfect permanent container for each category of items, (depending on how much or how little) then found a spot in the toy room for that container and labeled it.
It took me about three hours, but OH, did I feel so much
better. Success!!! Now everything had a place.
The playroom is tiny, so if all the toys are strewn about, there is no
place to play. Now Zach and I can sing (Joey’s waay too cool to join
us) the “Clean Up, Clean Up, Everybody Clean Up” song and we can actually really clean up!
Before this project, helping the boys clean the playroom was one
of my least favorite things to do. Now, I actually look forward to it! My mind just looks at the item, and says “Hello ball. You belong back
in the ball container.” “Hello, Batman. Go back to the Batman
bin.” When I see everything in its proper place I feel more peaceful.
Less conflicted, more orderly.
I believe when we can control one small area of our life, it will spill over to other areas. Now, each time I put toys away, I feel like I have conquered
something. Then, the rest of my day has a positive spin to it.
That little task creates momentum and I feel much more productive and
energized.
So, if finding the right position/right person seems overwhelming, let us help. We can help take the information of your world, organize it, and deliver you the best job/best fit for your opening possible!
Sometimes to simplify, you may need to make it more complicated at
first. But the results can be amazing! Take the first step. You’ll be happy you
did.
